Members of Brainerd High School physical education classes thrash through the water at Lake Hubert as part of the annual fittest of them all triathalon Wednesday. The students' exam includes swimming six-tenths of a mile, bicycling 50.4 miles and running 7.2 miles.

30 years ago (1978)

Bill Brown, the former Minnesota Viking fullback, is the honorary chairman of the July 8 Camp Confidence Celebrity Golf Tournament. Last year there was a trained alligator on the course that created quite a stir.

40 years ago (1968)

Crow Wing County may have a population of nearly 40,000 by 1985 with the greatest growth occurring in the Gull Lake, Nisswa and Lake Edward area.

60 years ago (1948)

A special meeting of the Brainerd Board of Education last night resulted in the appointment of Fred Kellett as head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Washington High School.

80 years ago (1928)

The Junior-Senior Prom, the most elaborate social effort of the year, took place Saturday evening at Ruttger's Resort on Bay Lake. Ruttger's Resort was very beautifully decorated in the class colors.

100 years ago (1908)

Brainerd extends the right hand of fellowship to the visitors within her gates, and we trust the impression formed by the bankers of the sixth district and their friends from all parts of the state who meet with them in this city in annual conventions today will be a lasting one.
