Several students on Tuesday in Lisa Jelinski's third-grade class at Harrison Elementary School in Brainerd lifted a large pile of pop tabs they and the Harrison community collected in support of classmate Zeffen Thurow (center), who was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma brain tumor in February and underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatments in March and April. While receiving treatment, Zeffen and his father stayed at the Ronald McDonald house in Minneapolis, which is supported by the money from recycled can tabs. A benefit for the family is planned from 4 until 11 p.m. July 12, at the Green Lantern east of Brainerd on Highway 18.
