Workshop to explore surviving deployment
With many area soldiers not expected home until next winter and others expecting to depart this year, a workshop aimed to offer ways to survive a military deployment has been announced.
Author and national speaker, Karen Pavlicin, has survived many deployments.
Known for her sense of humor, practical ideas and inspiring perspective, she will share her experiences as a military wife and mom in a day geared toward spouses, parents, girlfriends and other loved ones of Minnesota National Guard soldiers deployed with Company A, 1st Battalion, 194th Armor.
The workshop will be June 18 at the Brainerd Armory. The workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. for networking, followed by registration at 8:45 a.m. The first program begins at 9 a.m. There is a 11:45 a.m. lunch break followed by afternoon sessions. Lunch will be provided. Cost is $10.
All participants will receive a copy of "Surviving Deployment: A guide for military families."
For more information, contact Pam Biermaier at 828-1083 or e-mail jopach@charter.net, or Shannon Siekas at 825-3996 or e-mail pssiekas@msn.com.
RSVPs are requested by Friday.
There are options for people who may be only able to attend part of the day. The Family Readiness Group is able to help individuals who cannot afford the workshop's cost.
