The Region 5 Board of Directors will meet 9 a.m. June 12 at the Region 5 Office in Staples.
Ride with Jim was success
The sixth annual "Ride with Jim," a bicycle ride along the Paul Bunyan Trail with Congressman Jim Oberstar, was conducted Sunday on the trail.
According to event organizer Terry McGaughey, the event had the largest number of participants ever on Sunday.
The highlight of this year's ride, which started in Pine River, was the chance to ride on a new section of the Paul Bunyan Trail. The new section went through the Chippewa National Forest and is currently under construction. The new 12-mile segment is scheduled to open to the public July 1.
The official sponsors of this year's ride included: Auto Import, Rohlfing Supply and Johnson Candy, all of Brainerd; AmericInn Lodge and Suites, Pequot Lakes; Pine River and Hackensack chambers of commerce, Paul Bunyan Trail Sports, Hackensack; and Brainerd Community Action.
Brainerd committee to conduct second set of interviews
The Brainerd City Council's Personnel and Finance Committee will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to conduct the second set of interviews with two insurance agencies.
The committee will interview RG Insurance Inc. at 6:45 p.m. and Lindstrom Ltd. at 7:45 p.m.
