LOCAL BRIEFS
Open house set for Salvation Army captains
An open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. on June 18 at the Salvation Army offices, 208 S. Fifth St., for Salvation Army Captains Brian and Heidi Reed, who after five years of serving in the Brainerd area are being transferred to Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Taking over leadership at the Brainerd Salvation Army will be Majors Jeff and Cindy Strickler, who for the past 13 years have been at the Salvation Army's Booth Brown House, a teen runaway shelter in St. Paul.

Public hearing canceled

LITTLE FALLS - The Little Falls City Council public hearing on the proposed River Rock Townhomes set for Monday has been canceled.

The meeting was canceled because the developer of the townhomes, D.W. Jones Development Inc., withdrew its application for the development to be built in southwest Little Falls between 10th and 11th Streets and south of Eighth Avenue.
