Mounted Eagles Board adds members
Four new members were voted to join the Mounted Eagles board of directors at the annual membership meeting in April.
They are Melissa Giles, Brian Kohn, Marcia Mehr and Jolene Parks.
Giles owns a travel agency in Brainerd. She also is involved with the Vacationland Figure Skating Club.
Kohn is an engineering instructor at Central Lakes College. He is the husband of a participant who rode with Mounted Eagles for five years before she passed away in 2006. Kohn is currently volunteering with the program. He is a member of the Heartland Symphony Orchestra, Friends of the Crane Meadows Wildlife Refuge and also plays with a Scandinavian fiddle group.
Mehr is an EMT-CPR-I in the Outreach Education/RT/Ambulance department at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. She is the parent of a Mounted Eagles participant who has been riding for around 11 years.
She has served on several committees and councils at her church and is currently the chair for Christian Education. She is involved in Lutheran Via de Cristo of Minnesota.
Parks is a ninth- and 10th-grade special education teacher at Brainerd High School. She has been involved in DeWitt Martial Arts, Special Olympics and participated in the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics.
They join board members Aggie Stroot, Mary Rosemore-Hammer, Terry Prettyman and Lynn Fairbanks. Three additional board members were added last year. They are Kris Nelson, Theresa Grow and Staci Grattan.
