LOCAL BRIEFS Horizon Health asks people
to take a stand
PIERZ - Horizon Health in Pierz is asking people to join it Saturday in Let's Take A Stand in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Staff, families and friends at the Harmony Houses in Pierz, Motley, Brainerd and Little Falls at 3 p.m. will stand in a 10-minute observance to emphasize the need for increased awareness of the disease that affects nearly 5 million Americans. People are asked to join at their nearest Harmony House.
Let's Take A Stand is organized by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
Flag Day ceremony planned
There will be a Flag Day ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the All Veterans Memorial in Brainerd. Flag retirement will take place from 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the Elks Lodge parking lot, 215 S. Ninth St., Brainerd.
Hamburgers will be available in the Lodge following the ceremony.
