Ross named first runner-up in Miss Minnesota Pageant
Mackenzie Ross, 20, Brainerd, was named first runner-up in the Miss Minnesota Pageant Saturday at the Eden Prairie Performing Arts Center.
Fifteen contestants competed for the title of Miss Minnesota 2008. Angie McDermott, Miss Twin Cities, was crowned the new Miss Minnesota.
Ross, who is the reigning Miss Northwest and was the 2006 Miss Brainerd Lakes, was named first runner-up. Ross tied with two other contestants to win the preliminary swimsuit competition. She also won the Miss Miracle Maker award for raising the most money for the Children's Miracle Network totaling $1,280.
Ross will relinquish her crown at the Miss Northwest Pageant July 11 in Detroit Lakes. This pageant is open for young women who live within the northwest portion of the state, including Crow Wing County.
Elizabeth Neaton, the reigning Miss Brainerd Lakes, made the top 10. Neaton will relinquish her crown at the 2008 Miss Brainerd Lakes Scholarship Pageant planned for 7 p.m. June 28 at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd.
