Rep. Jim Oberstar and Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced Monday a $528,873 grant for the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport for safety and infrastructure improvements.
The grant will help the airport rehabilitate its runway, taxiway and terminal building. It also will help the airport acquire aircraft de-icing equipment and snow removal equipment.
"The addition of new deicing equipment will keep aircraft operating more efficiently in a wider variety of weather conditions," Oberstar said in a news release. "This investment will ensure that Brainerd's airport can keep moving goods and people."
Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport has received more than $2.6 million in grants this year.
In April, a $2.1 million grant wasawarded for infrastructure projects at the airport.
"This funding ensures that Minnesota's regional airports continue to be among the safest and most reliable in the nation," Klobuchar said.
