20 years ago (1988)

Jim Madden and John Arnold, owners of Madden's Resort on Gull Lake will be hosts this week to international visitors attending a quadrilateral trade conference at the convention center.

30 years ago (1978)

Dick Cook and Polly Aumock, with a score of 63, took low net team honors in Friday night couple's golf. Second place, with 65 scores were John Struthers and Verna Hoffmann, Doc Smedley and Bernice Connors and Bill Tell and Darlene Palmer.

40 years ago (1968)

The First Lutheran Church of Brainerd presented the city with a $250 check for what it said was half of the total amount to be given this year in appreciation for city services.

60 years ago (1948)

Thousands of spectators lined the streets. Hundreds of marching and musical units, floats and clowns streamed through downtown Brainerd. That was the VFW encampment parade judged as one of the best of its kind.

80 years ago (1928)

The most outstanding field of marksmen ever assembled in the northwoods was mobilized at Breezy Point for the 44th annual competition of the Minnesota State Trap Shooting Association, which opens today.

100 years ago (1908)

The fence has been completed around the railroad park and while not especially ornamental is serviceable in keeping people off the lawn.
