TCC Head Start is enrolling children for the 2008-2009 school year.
Head Start is a child development program for children ages 3 TTO 5. Head Start provides educational and social experiences and focuses on parent involvement as the primary influence on a child's development.
There is no cost, but priority is given to income eligible families, and families of children with special needs. For more information or to request an application, call TCC at (877) 822-2011.
Area singers to be in All-State Lutheran Choir performance
Four area students will perform in the 2008 All-State Lutheran Choir when it performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
The students, who are part of the choir's 40th annual tour, are Joe Anderson of Baxter, Toni Gage of Brainerd, Erica Swedberg of Nisswa and Lori Bergstrom of Pillager.
The conductor of the choir is Thomas Rossin, a former choir director at Brainerd High School. He is the founder and director of Exultate, a chamber choir and orchestra based in the Twin Cities. The accompanist is Stephen Gabrielson, professor of music at Augsburg College and organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids.
A free will offering will be taken for the choir. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 1420 S. Sixth St. More information on the concert may be obtained by calling 829-5147.
Brainerd man still in satisfactory condition
The 43-year-old Brainerd man who was injured June 8 after his camper exploded at his northeast Brainerd home continued to be in satisfactory condition Friday at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
The man, James Lund, suffered burns in a camper trailer fire at his home 919 12th Ave. N.E.
The Brainerd Fire Department reported that it appeared the fire and explosion were caused by a gas leak.
Day camp planned
Luthercrest Day Camp at Bethel Lutheran Day camp, led by a team from Luthercrest Bible Camp, will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church. Arrangements may be made for children who need to arrive early or stay later. The camp is open for all children from kindergarten through sixth grade. There will be a program for parents and friends on Wednesday.
