Pequot Lakes girl injured in accident

BAXTER - The 11-year-old Pequot Lakes girl who was one of four people injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday at Highways 371 and 210 in Baxter was in fair condition Friday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
The girl, Emily Tischma, was airlifted from the scene by North AirCare to the Robbinsdale hospital.
The three others who were injured in the accident - Angie Johnson, 34, Pequot Lakes, Derrick Stevenson, 24, St. Paul, and Juli Sutton-Deem, 57, Brainerd - were all treated at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd and later released.
Baxter Police Department reported that the broadside collision happened after Johnson failed to stop at a red light while attempting to turn from Highway 210 onto Highway 371 and hit the vehicle driven by Sutton-Deem who was on Highway 210.
Otremba receives DFL endorsement in her run for re-election to House
Rep. Mary Ellen Otremba, DFL-Long Prairie, recently received a unanimous endorsement for her re-election bid at the DFL District 11B convention.
She is serving in her sixth term in the House, after being elected in a special election to succeed her late husband in 1997.
Otremba will run against the Republican-endorsed candidate, former Todd County Sheriff and current Todd County Commissioner Dave Kircher.
She is the mother of four adult children and is a family educator by profession.
Brainerd School District receives computer donation
The Brainerd Lakes Health System and Consolidated Telecommunications Company teamed up to donate computer monitors and technical assistance to the Brainerd School District. Brainerd Lakes Health, which includes St. Joseph's Medical Center and Brainerd Medical Center, organized a donation of more than 100 gently used LCD monitors. CTC offered to donate the technical support to install the monitors in the schools.
