Walter R. Larson
Wallie Larson, age 88, of Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, passed away early Saturday morning, June 20, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter. Friends are invited to gather beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Walter R. "Wallie" Larson was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Minneapolis, the son of Walter Edward and Mabel (Kruger) Larson. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Following his schooling he went to work for Rayette Inc. as a tool and die operator. After working for Rayette for many years he joined the Lakeland Tool and Engineering Company until his retirement. For many years he wintered in Pharr, Texas. Failing health brought him to live near his stepfamily in Bartlesville, Okla. In March of 2008 he moved to Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, Minn., to be near his son.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Mabel; his first wife, Helga; second wife, Hazel; and third wife, Berniece. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sons, Michael (Joyce) Larson, of Tulum, Mexico, and Sandy (Donna) Larson, of Pillager, Minn.; grandson, Eric (Kamie) Larson; two great-grandsons, E.J. and Brody; stepgrandchildren, Robyn and Rusty Schmidt; sister, June (Ronald) Anderson, of Fridley, Minn.; and brother, Ray (Royce) Larson, of Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be given to Edgewood Vista in Wallie's name.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
