Open Forum: Franken makes Ventura look good
For those who haven't heard, a Canadian judge has just found that a 12-year-old girl was "excessively" punished when her father ruled that she couldn't go on a school trip because she broke Internet rules (she posted pictures of herself on a dating site). He's appealing but the judge did let her go on the trip.

(Well, that's just Canada, right? Think twice. Hillary Rodham, once wrote a law review article, "Children Under the Law," in which "she argued that minors should be treated as "child citizens" who should, under at least some conditions, be able to challenge their parents in court over parental decisions." That was in 1970.)

Not to be outdone by our neighbors to the north, Minnesota "progressives" now want us to elect Al Franken. Mr. Franken, you may remember, wrote an article for Playboy in 2000 where he extolled the virtues of the Internet. His son, he claims "used the internet for a sixth grade report on bestiality." According to Franken, his son "was able to download some effective visual aids, which the other students in his class just loved." Got to make a father proud.

Progressives would have us believe that this kind of thing could be beneficial to our society (children). Please explain. And while you are explaining that, maybe you could illuminate us on how the recent pregnancy pact in Gloucester, Mass., this week, where 17 high-school age girls decided to get pregnant, was in some way a benefit to our society.

But, as the media pundits have told us, Mr. Franken's article was only satire, right? Right.

Sort of makes Jesse Ventura look downright statesmanlike.
