Mallards quack Thunder 10-2 NORTHWOODS LEAGUE BASEBALL
MADISON, Wis. - The Madison Mallards won their fifth straight game with a 10-2 victory over the Brainerd Blue Thunder in Northwoods League baseball Thursday night.
Right-hander Alex Rivers won his first game of the season for the Mallards, limiting Brainerd to six singles. He struck out two, walked four and allowed one earned run in six innings.
Madison's Luke Stewart was 2-for-5 with five RBIs, including a three-run homer in the first inning, his fourth of the season.
Aaron Bray was 4-for-5 with three runs, Brandon Wikoff 2-4 with two RBIs, Rob Lyerly 3-5 with three RBIs and Josh Groves was 2-4 for Madison.
Devon Ramirez drove in the first Brainerd run with a second-inning single. Kyle Sisney had Brainerd's other RBI on an infield hit in the ninth.
Kris Jiggitts took the loss, his fourth of the season. In eight innings he allowed seven earned runs and eight hits, walked three and struck out five.
Spencer Parish pitched two innings for Brainerd, giving up five hits and three earned runs, walked one and struck out one.
Ramirez allowed one hit in the eighth.
Kyle Heim and Travis High combined to pitch the last two innings for Madison, allowing no runs and one hit, with two walks and three strikeouts.
