Ethan Branum and Travis Whirley pitched complete games as the Brainerd American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader from Park Rapids by scores of 9-2 and 2-1 Thursday night at Adamson Field.
Branum pitched a five-hitter in the opener, with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Brainerd's Rob Veith was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Josh Haberman was 2-3 with two runs and a double, Brett Kramer was 1-3 with a sacrifice, three runs and four RBIs, Bill Sather was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs, Nate Smolke doubled and had two RBIs and Whirley was 2-3 with two runs.
Tom Juberian was 2-4 for Park Rapids.
In the second game, Whirley permitted five hits and walked none in going the distance.
Trevor Howard was 2-3 with a solo home run in the Brainerd second and a walkoff double in the sixth (the second game was supposed to be just five innings). Haberman had the other Brainerd hit.
Cody Botterman pitched a complete game for Park Rapids, allowing three hits with one strikeout and two walks.
