Downtown streets to be open for July Fourth weekend
The downtown Brainerd reconstruction project is getting closer to completion and all roads will be open for the July Fourth weekend, reported contractor Tom's Backhoe Service.
Road closures after this point will be on an "as needed basis" except for the final work on asphalt paving and striping.
Plans called for the paving of the alley between Seventh and Eighth streets as of Monday, depending on weather. Paver installation is to continue through the week and is expected to be done at the end of next week. Work to install sprinkler systems in the planting bed areas was scheduled to start Friday with installation of planting beds, pre-cast pillars and railings this week.
The contractor, Tom's Backhoe Service, hosts weekly meetings updating business owners, property owners and the public about what to expect in the coming week. Meetings are at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, at Brainerd City Hall, 501 Laurel St.
