Gerald 'Jerry' Hanson
Gerald "Jerry" Hanson, 82, Brainerd, passed away at his home in Brainerd on Monday, June 29, 2009. He was born May 27, 1927, in Brainerd to Fredrick and Agnes (Hanson) Hanson. He married Alice Larson on Sept. 20, 1945, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 45 years as a cost analyst. Jerry and Alice spent the last 20 winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; his children, Gayle (Tom) Fidler, East Peoria, Ill., Dyke (Sharon), Noblesville, Ind., Curt (Michelle), Fargo, N.D.; and seven grandchildren, Chad Fidler, Courtney (fiance Dan Cinnamon) Fidler, Nicholas (Stephanie) Fidler, Jeffrey (fiancee Sarah Lindstrom) Hanson, Andrea (Brad) Smith, Alessandra Hanson and Taylor Hanson; and three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Reagan and River Smith; his sisters, Dorothy (Gene) Brandt, St. Paul, and Carol Arvig, White Bear Lake, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob; and his sister, Diane Waldow.
Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Kleckner officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Post No. 1647 of Brainerd. Memorials preferred to Good Samaritan Society Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church.
