Grazing management tour offered in Leader area
LEADER - The Leader Lions and Crow Wing Basin Forage Council are hosting a summer grazing tour.
The bus will pick participants up at 7 a.m. July 11 at the Leader Community Center on Highway 64, one mile north of Leader or at 7:30 a.m. at Brick's restaurant in Motley.
Registration will begin at 7:45-8:30 a.m. at Mike Sams' farm on Cass/Wadena County Highway 30, north of Staples along with a free breakfast.
The topics include organic farming, USDA EQIP Program, using forages for feed and fuel, irrigation presentation and forage trials. Breakfast will be prepared by the Cass County Farm Bureau at Mike Sams' farm and lunch will be available at Mark Adimietz' farm.
The cost for the tour is $15 per individual which includes bus tour, breakfast, lunch and materials.
Even if you are just thinking about raising livestock, are a new producer or have been raising livestock for many years, this tour is for you. Experienced producers and specialists will be available to answer questions.
The tour is being sponsored by the Leader Lion's, Crow Wing Basin Forage Council, NRCS, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the University of Minnesota Extension Service, Minnesota Association of Resource Conservation Development, WesMinn RC&D, Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative, Cass County Beef Growers and Cass County Farm Bureau.
Funding for the workshop is being provided by Minnesota Association of Resource Conservation Development and WesMin RC&D, Leader Lion's and Crow Wing Basin Forage Council.
