Brainerd council plans July 9 as appreciation day for citizens, staff
The Brainerd City Council will say thank you to citizens and city staff July 9 as it combines Citizen Appreciation Day and Staff Recognition Day.

Brainerd City Council member Mary Koep said department heads and city council members will attempt to make themselves available for questions and informal tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 9. Koep said city hall will be the main location although citizens are encouraged to drop in at other locations such as the Brainerd Police Department, the Brainerd Fire Department, the city garage, the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department and the Public Utilities Commission office in Baxter.

Those who drop in at city hall will be offered cake, doughnuts, cookies and coffee. There will also be informational brochures on city services and historical brochures. A suggestion box will also be made available.

In addition, city employees will receive certificates of appreciation for their work.

Koep said the entire day's activities shouldn't cost more than $250 and money will come from a fund already approved for special council projects.

People from outside of the Brainerd city limits are welcome as well, Koep said.
