MUSIC SHORTS Sam Miltich's Clearwater Hot Club to perform
IRONTON - The Serbian Sisters will host Sam Miltich's Clearwater Hot Club as their summer event on from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at 96 Viola Ave. in north Ironton.
Serbian Sisters members and jazz enthusiasts are welcome to attend.
The Clearwater Hot Club features the jazz made famous by Django Reinhardt and the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. While the group has entertained audiences as far away as Tokyo, they enjoy playing at home in northern Minnesota.
Lead guitarist Miltich has toured with the Robin Nolan Trio, the Hot Club of San Francisco and Brian Torff and Randy Sabien. He also plays concerts with Minnesota mandolin player Peter Ostroushko.
Appearing as a special guest at the event will be saxophonist Dave Karr. He has composed and arranged music for film, radio and television commercials.

Christopherson is next organist in series
Carla Christopherson will perform in the Summer Organ Series at noon Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., in Brainerd.
Admission is free.
Christopherson received her bachelor's in keyboard performance from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She has been playing the organ since age 15, and has been the organist for First Church of Christ, Scientist, for more than 30 years.
She has been played at First Lutheran Chruch since 2005. She works as a registered nurse.
Music in the Park series slated in Staples
STAPLES - The Music in the Park series will be at 7 p.m. Sundays from June 13-Aug. 17 at NP Park, 611 Iowa Ave. N.E., in Staples.
Admission is free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
The schedule is:
July 13: Red Johnson, country.
July 20: Fiddle & Squeeze, violin and accordion duo.
July 27: The 1/2 Steps, men's a cappella quartet.
Aug. 3: Pandemonium!, the Redwood Falls High School steel drum band.
Aug. 10: Johnny Jay Huhta, country and rockabilly.
Aug. 17: Cactus Willie, Boxcar Bob and the Drifter, country, folk and rock.
