Nina Borgwarth, daughter of Hanspeter and Gisela Borgwarth of Lake Shore, recently graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in industrial engineering.

30 years ago (1978)

The champions of the Cub Scout Physical Fitness Competition held in St. Cloud recently were Craig Benson, Brad Johnson and Mike Johnson. They represented Crosslake Pack 101 in a contest that included push-ups, sit-ups, a softball throw, the broad jump and a 50 yard dash,

40 years ago (1968)

The Lions Club of Brainerd was recently named the recipient of the R.V. Dick Melby Sight Conservation Award. The award is given for achieving and outstanding record of Lionism with special emphasis on sight conservation and community service.

60 years ago (1948)

Soon to be completed is the new front on the Patek Furniture Company. According to Mr. Newman, part owner of the store, the front will give better display, more light and the whole store will be seen from the street.

80 years ago (1928)

During the storm Sunday evening the electric wires fell into the tops of the trees in the northern Pacific Park and electrocuted hundreds of sparrows which were seeking shelter in the branches.
