Marjorie Kompelien
CROSBY - Marjorie Kompelien, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at her home in Crosby.
Marjorie was born to Andrew and Evelyn (Jacobsen) Thompson on March 27, 1929, in Minneota, Minn. She attended high school in Appleton, Minn., and was the valedictorian for the class of 1947. She worked in St. Paul as a secretary and bookkeeper prior to her marriage.
Marjorie married Delmo Kompelein on Feb. 24, 1951. They lived in Marshall, Minn., for a few years and then lived in Minneota until 1974 then they moved to Crosby. Prior to retirement, they owned a road construction business. Marjorie was the bookkeeper through the years.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Delmo who passed away in November, 2008; two infant children; brothers, Harvey Thompson and Bernard Thompson; and sister LaVonne Benson.
Marjorie is survived by four children, Glen (LaVonne) Kompelein, Crosby, Carol Kompelien, Minneapolis, Nancy Weigelt, Aitkin and Kristen (Mark) Lindberg, Ironton; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Duane Thompson, Minneota; and two sisters, Eldora Hubbard, Minneapolis, and Ethel (Keith) Stroup, Clarkfield.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Visitation times are Tuesday, July 7, from 5-8 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and one hour prior to the services at the church Wednesday. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.
