The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League announced Friday that Matt Mullendore has signed a contract to play for the rest of the season.
The Lunkers inked the sophomore pitcher from Hamline University to add depth to the bullpen.
Mullendore, a 5-11, 185-pound right-hander, comes to the Lunkers from the Rochester Honkers. With Rochester this year, Mullendore appeared in six games, made two starts, compiled a 1-1 record, threw 20.1 innings, and had an ERA of 3.10. In his two starts for the Honkers, Mullendore pitched two complete games, and held opposing hitters to a .237 average.
This past spring with Division III Hamline, he appeared in 16 games, made 13 starts, and compiled a 7-3 record in 80.1 innings. His 3.59 ERA was a team-best, and he was an All-MIAC selection.
The Amery, Wis., native was a four-time letterwinner in baseball, and received honorable mention all-state and first-team all-district as a senior. He also lettered for the football team as a running back, and received honorable mention all-state honors as a forward for Amery High School's hockey team.
