LAKE_MILLE LACS
East - The best daytime walleye reports are still coming off the deep gravel, 22 to 28 feet, with crawlers and leeches. Slip bobbers and leeches remain the best option at night on the nine- to 14-foot rocks. Smallmouth are hitting plastics on the shallow rock reefs and points and muskie anglers are seeing a few fish but they don't want to eat.
West - During the day work the tops and edges of the flats for walleyes with spinner rigs or livebait rigs tipped with crawlers or leeches. At night, slide off the edge of the mud with slip bobbers and leeches in 28 to 32 feet. Seguchie's Flat, Sherman's Flat, Seven Mile Flat, Eight Mile Flat, and the Banana Flat have all produced fish. Most rock points are holding smallmouth bass and the pike action has been decent on the weedlines in St. Alban's Bay with crankbaits.
LEECH LAKE AREA
Crawlers and leeches are producing walleyes on the 18- to 24-foot humps in Walker Bay and in 16 to 18 feet off Otter Tail Point. During the evening hours, crankbaits are the ticket in 11 to 18 feet off Cedar Point and Sand Point. The best bass reports are coming from Boy Bay, Sucker Bay, and Minnesota Island with spinnerbaits. Muskie anglers are seeing more fish on the weeds in Kabekona Bay.
LAKE WINNIBIGOSHISH
The main-lake bars and humps are producing walleyes via leeches and Lindy Rigs in 18 to 24 feet. During the evening hours or in windy conditions, crankbaits or minnows will still produce walleyes on the points and shoreline breaks. Look for perch on the deep rocks and pike remain scattered on the bars and weedlines.
BRAINERD/NISSWA AREA
The six- to 10-foot weedlines of most lakes are holding bass and sucker minnows are producing northern pike on the deep weeds of Gull Lake, North Long Lake, and Round Lake. Livebait rigs tipped with leeches are turning walleyes on Gull and North Long during the evening hours in 16 to 20 feet. Look for panfish in the weeds and around docks on Roy Lake, Cullen Lake, Lake Margaret, and Gull.
CROSBY AREA
Trout continue to be found suspended at 25 to 30 feet early in the day on the Huntington Pit and Manuel Pit. Bass and northern pike are hitting a variety of presentations on most lakes. Walleye action remains tough with a few fish coming off the Mississippi River and Serpent Lake during the evening hours. Lakes such as Big Mahnomen, Little Mahnomen, Nokay, Clearwater, and June are safe bets for sunfish in eight to 12 feet.
EMILY AREA
Trolling Rapalas or minnows on the weedlines of West Fox Lake continues to produce pike. Throw plastics on the south end of Ruth Lake for largemouth bass and crankbaits on Mitchell Lake for smallmouth. The six-foot weeds on Lake Emily are holding sunfish and Lake Esquagamah is producing a few walleyes in 10 feet each evening.
HACKENSACK AREA
Walleye action is limited to a few fish being taken on crawlers or leeches in 15 to 20 feet on Birch Lake and Ten Mile Lake. Look for the shallow crankbait bite to pick up on Ten Mile during the evening hours. Muskie action is sporadic, but smallmouth bass remain active in the shallows of Birch and Ten Mile.
