What's Doing NEBRA
The Northeast Brainerd Residents Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The agenda calls for planning National Night Out.
Disabled American Veterans
The monthly meeting for DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 and Auxiliary will meet Thursday at the Brainerd VFW Club. Chapter officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The general membership meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
Pinetree Patchworkers
BAXTER - Pinetree Patchworkers will meet at 6:45 p.m. Monday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter. Pam Holland, an outstanding quilter from Australia, will be showing her beautiful quilts and talking about where she got her inspirations.
Rollin' Rangers
The July get-together for the Rollin' Rangers will be July 19-21 at St. Cloud Campgrounds. Hosts will be Dan and Sue Nelson and Leonard and Karen Oseland. Any questions, call Karen at 829-8918.
Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast
Brainerd Eagles Club will serve breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at 124 Front St., Brainerd. Cost: $5, Eagles' special. There's also an ala carte menu.
Bella Vista/Brainerd (B&B) Club
The B and B Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sawmill Cafe for the monthly luncheon with lunch from the menu around noon. Anyone who escapes Minnesota for the Arkansas sun in the winter is invited to join us for all events. No reservations for the lunch are required but an RSVP is appreciated.
This group of Minnesota snowbirds meets year around on the third Wednesday of the month in Bella Vista and in Brainerd on the third Thursday from June through September. For further information call Liz Curren at 575-2281.

Backus Legion annual pig roast
BACKUS - The Backus American Legion's annual pig roast will begin at 4:30 p.m. July 18. Cost: $7 a plate, all-you-can-eat. The Post is also sponsoring a bean bag tournament starting at 2 p.m. Sign up in advance at the Legion or on the day of the tournament from 1:30-2 p.m.
The Legion clubrooms are located at Highways 371 and 87 W.
Sunday dance
BACKUS - The Frankie Lamb Band returns to the Backus American Legion from 2-6 p.m. July 19. The band plays classic country and pop, old time and swing. The clubrooms are located at Highways 371 and 87 W.
VFW Post and Auxiliary meeting
The VFW Post and Auxiliary monthly meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home Post, 309 S. Sixth St. These meetings are informative in regard to Veterans' affairs and upcoming events.
Friday dinner
The VFW Club, 309 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have a steak fry by Buzz beginning at 5:30 p.m. until gone July 17. Cost $8. Reservations are appreciated by calling 829-6393 or 831-2112.

The VFW breakfast will be 8 a.m. to noon July 19 at the home Post.
Class of 1952
Class of 1952 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bonanza.
Bastille Day picnic
Le Cercle Francais of Brainerd, a French conversation group, will meet 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lum Park in Brainerd to commemorate Bastille Day, a French holiday.
Anyone who would like to converse in French is welcome to attend. Bring a snack or other food item with a French theme to share and a beverage. The group will meet at one of the covered areas.
The event will be canceled if there is stormy weather or heavy rain.
Mission Fire Fair planned
MISSION - The Mission Township Firefighter's Relief Association will celebrate the 22nd annual Mission Fire Fair at 11:30 a.m. July 18 at Mission Park. Roast pork dinner, brats, dogs, popcorn and drinks will be available.
The safe house and North Air helicopter will be at the park along with fire department, EMS and DNR campfire safety demonstrations as well as the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department children's fingerprinting.
Mission Park is seven miles north of Merrifield off Crow Wing County Road 3 one mile east on Mission Park Drive.
Nokasippi Watershed Group to meet
The Nokasippi Watershed Group will have its annual meeting beginning with coffee and rolls at 9:30 a.m. July 18 at the Long Lake Township Hall, 9033 State Hwy. 25 in rural Crow Wing County. Call 831-6641 for further directions. A light lunch will be served at noon.
Program will feature reports: Local lake and stream water quality, Rhonda Adkins, MPCA; ground water, Scott Alexander; Minnesota Groundwater Association and Local Organization Cooperation by Mike Sams, Minnesota Farm Bureau.
Senior dances
Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at Motley with music by Country Pride; from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by Andy Roskos; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at Deerwood with music by Jerry B.
N.A.R.V.R.E.
The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Public Library meeting room. All present and retired railroad employees, spouses, widows and widowers of railroad employees are eligible and welcome to attend. Lunch to follow.
Potlatch reunion picnic
The seventh annual Potlatch reunion picnic will begin at noon July 25 with a potluck (Kool-Aid and coffee provided) at 3 p.m. at St. Mathias Park. Come for the day or camp overnight but those who camp must leave by noon July 26. There will be a potluck breakfast at 9 a.m. July 26.

Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children
The Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children is making plans for the "Christmas in July" luncheon at noon July 22 at the Eagles Club. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the food shelf, toys to be used in the pool such as boats or other toys such as playdough, beads, clothing such as shorts, gowns, black socks and/or personal items such as combs, toothpaste, etc. Cost of the luncheon is $9.
Lake Hubert Community Grange picnic
The Lake Hubert Community Grange picnic will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 18 at the Old Lake Hubert School House, Highway 371 north of Brainerd to Sportland Corner, CR 13 east two miles to Sunset Valley Road, 1/4 mile north on the left side. Picnic will be furnished by the Grange. Freewill donation. Bring bats, balls, softball, volleyball and lawn chairs.
Washington High School class of 1945
The Washington High School class of 1945 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge. This will be a lunch meeting.
