Strung together like jewels on a necklace, the clear, aquamarine lakes of the Cuyuna Range are undiscovered beauties, not sky blue, but pure, green blue water lets an observer see forever into bottomless basins.

30 years ago (1978)

Five hundred balloons were cleared in downtown Brainerd this morning as part of the anniversary celebration. Each balloon carries a certificate that can be redeemed at downtown business places.

40 years ago (1968)

Lum Park has become a favorite spot with many of the Brainerd youngsters as the hot weather has moved into this area. Many children and adults are spending a good deal of the day at the park swimming and relaxing in the shade.

60 years ago (1948)

Employees of the S and L store entertained at a 7 o'clock wiener roast and farewell gathering at Cinosam on Gull Lake last night in compliment to Joe Pomplum who has been transferred to Grand Forks, N.D.

80 years ago (1928)
