Within a short time after Friday's storm came rolling into the Brainerd lakes area, there were 2,700 residences from Breezy Point to Fort Ripley that lost power, Char Kinzar of Crow Wing Power said Saturday morning.
Kinzar said Crow Wing Power crews worked through the night and power was restored to most of the households. Kinzar said 500 residences from Breezy Point and Crosslake are still out of power, but should have power back on by 6 p.m. Saturday.
Minnesota Power customers also were affected in the Nisswa area. Officials could not be reached for comment Saturday.
Cass County reported that many trees and power lines were down throughout the county. Moondance Jam fans lucked out and the storm died down by the time it reached Walker, the sheriff's department reported.
The storm tore through the lakes area and downed trees and power lines in Crow Wing, Cass, Morrison and Aitkin counties and in the cities of Nisswa, Little Falls and Pequot Lakes. Luckily, no injures were reported anywhere.
South of Brainerd, the Little Falls Police Department said the west side of the city was hit the worse. Power was out through the night, but was restored at 8 a.m. Saturday. The Morrison County Sheriff's Department reported a busy night with the storm that may have played a factor in a house fire reported in Scandia Valley Township.
