Freshman Bianca Spalj, daughter of J.R. and Jane Spalj, Deerwood, has achieved the Headmaster's honor roll for spring semester at St. John's Prep School, Collegeville.

Michael Ruen, son of Kevin and Michelle Ruen, Brainerd, received the Elise and Freida Rich Hammers Presidential Scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2009-10 academic year. He plans to attend UND in the fall.

Latoja Pikula, Baxter, was named to the president's list for the 2009 spring semester at Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Shannah Andrews, Brainerd, daughter of Darren Andrews and Chris Maddsen-Andrews and Lisa and Dave Walsh, recently graduated from Duluth Business Universities massage therapy program.

Paige E. Northway was named to the dean's list of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder for the spring semester. Northway, an engineering physics major in the engineering honors program, is participating in a three-month summer internship at the Max Planck Institute of Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg, Germany.

Claire M. Northway, East Gull Lake, recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. She received a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry with a minor in art history. She has been named to the dean's list in the College of Science every semester in her college career. Northway, a Glynn Family Honors Student, will begin medical school in August at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Maria Swanson, daughter of Helen and Tom Swanson, Brainerd, graduated cum laude in industrial engineering from the University of Minnesota-Duluth spring semester.

Alicia Archibald, daughter of Anne and Jim Archibald, Brainerd, received the Elizabeth J. Larimore and Sadie P. Mathews Community of Learners Scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2009-10 academic year. She plans to attend UND in the fall.

Andrea Lemieux, daughter of Brian and Jacquelyn Lemieux, Brainerd, was named to the spring dean's list at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.

The following students were named to the Concordia College dean's list: Kylie Abrahamson, Merrifield; Amanda Adair, East Gull Lake; Christopher Comstock, Baxter; Amy Hendrickson, Brainerd; Lise Holte, Brainerd; Katherine Johnson, Baxter; Brooke Lange, Brainerd; Alisa Madsen, Brainerd; Shannon McGuire, Baxter; Michael Reponen, Baxter; Kate Stevenson, Baxter; Jordan Stich, Crosby; Brett Travica, Baxter; and Joseph Trucano, Brainerd.

Whitney Shepherd, a senior at Concordia College, Moorhead, was named to the college's 2009 Family Weekend Committee. Shepherd is the daughter of Keith and Lynn Shepherd, Brainerd, and is part of the Half-Time division of the Family Weekend program.

Recipients of the Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund based out of Duluth include: Kimber Amweg, Baxter, Charleston College; Janessa DeRosier, Fort Ripley, St. Benedict; Peter Jacobsen, Brainerd, St. Olaf; Rebecca Lange, Brainerd, Creighton; and Andrew Morreim, Brainerd, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Tyler Kline, son of Vince and Dennise Kline, Baxter, received the North Dakota State University Freshman Academic Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Kline will enter NDSU in the fall.

Courtney Collette, daughter of Steven and Cheryl Collette, East Gull Lake, received the North Dakota State University Presidential Scholarship, which totals $12,000 over four years. Collette will enter NDSU in the fall.

Jessica Keranen, daughter of Hannah Keranen, Brainerd, Brittany Hanson, daughter of David and Wendy Hanson, Baxter, and Kevin Myhre, son of Mark and Sharon Myhre, Pillager, received the North Dakota State University Presidential Honor Scholarship, which totals $10,000 over four years. The three students will attend NDSU in the fall.

Carlie Kramer, Baxter, has accepted a $1,000 academic achievement scholarship from Bemidji State University for the 2009-10 academic year.
