Rosa L. Johnson
STAPLES - Rosa L. Johnson, 100, of Staples, died at Lakewood Health System Hospital Sunday, July 12, 2009. Services for Rosa will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Sveom. Friends are welcome to gather Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow services at Poplar Cemetery in Leader, Minn. There will be a lunch following burial at the Leader Community Hall.
Rosa was born July 27, 1908, in Bemidji, Minn., the daughter of Thomas and Rosetta (Beaumont) Wold. After graduating high school in 1926, Rosa taught school for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Clifford Johnson in 1932. Rosa loved her family. She always followed her children's sporting events. She enjoyed Bingo, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and board games. She also liked to play cards, especially 500 and pinochle. Her fifth generation grandbabies are very special to her.
Rosa will be missed by her daughter, Lucille (Walter) Sowers; her son, Leon (Lona) Johnson; her sisters, Lillian Valenzuela, Betty (John) Sunde, and Barbara (Tom) Mills; her brother, Thomas; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples, Minn.
