Marv Nutting is retiring from the Parks and Recreation Board. To the home folks, Marv Nutting is known as a man who loves his community and especially the parks.
30 years ago (1977)
There was activity for everyone at the annual Fun Festival in Merrifield with a tug-of-war contests, a canoe race, rides for the kids and big turkey barbecue.
40 years ago (1967)
Almost an inch and one half of rain was dumped on Brainerd early this morning, accompanied by lightning, thunder and high winds.
60 years ago (1947)
It was a case of winning the shoot on the home grounds for Blanche Walsh Sunday when the female trapshooter scattered clay pigeon bits on the sand at Uncle Tom Walsh's Trap Shoot Club. Blanch shot 19 of 25 birds for top honors in the Lady Shoot.
80 years ago (1927)
A biological ice box specially constructed for drug store use for the keeping of all vaccines, anti- toxics, and serums has been installed in H.P. Dunn's drug store.
100 years ago (1907)
A mighty movement of high grade merchandise in this Koop Carnival of cut prices. Since last Saturday this store has been daily packed with customers who know values. This sale has been the largest sale in Brainerd history.
