Donald L. Lyons Sr.
Donald L. Lyons Sr., age 80, of Brainerd, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, July 17, 2008. Donald was born in Brainerd on Dec. 30, 1927, the son of Pete and Mary Hines. He served in the Army and Air Force; he was a cement finisher and truck driver.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy; his children, Don Jr. (Karen), Cathy (Lee) Hock and Susan Duhamel; stepdaughter, Ruthie (Jim) Clikeman; eight grandchildren, Cody, Nichole, Sandy, Sherry, Sheila, Jennie, Jamie and Brad; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leo (Carol) Hines, Emily (Maxine) Hines and Butch (Mary) Hines; and three sisters, Violet (Jack) Borders, Dorothy Pickar and Marie (Francis) Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Mary Hines; and three brothers, Clayton, Clifford and Marion.
Services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Oak Street Chapel in Brainerd with the Rev. Chip Avelsgaard officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and the hour before services at the church on Monday.
