ST. CLOUD - Mitch Caster drove in the only Brainerd run with a sacrifice fly in the third as the Blue Thunder lost to the St. Cloud River Bats 3-1 in Northwoods League baseball Friday night at Faber Field.
The loss was Brainerd's fourth straight.
Third baseman Kyle Sisney went 3-for-4 and second baseman AJ Pettersen had two hits for the Blue Thunder, who led 1-0 through 5 1/2 innings.
Alex Kalgorides pitched six innings and took the loss. He allowed nine hits and two earned runs, walked one and struck out two. Darryl Stringfield finished. He walked one and gave up one hit.
Ryan Sheldon picked up his seventh win in nine decisions for St. Cloud. He allowed four hits and one earned run in seven innings, walked none and struck out eight.
Kevin Johnson pitched a scoreless eighth and Xavier Esquivel closed for his 10th save.
Kevin Johnson had an RBI single in the St. Cloud sixth and Derek McCallum had a sacrifice fly in the River Bats' seventh. St. Cloud's Adam Weisenburger was 2-for-4.
