Initial plans to install traffic signals at the Sportland Corners intersection south of Nisswa were approved by the Crow Wing County Board.

30 years ago (1976)

Arlene Clementson, representing the North Central Beekeepers Association, was crowned State Honey Queen at the state beekeepers convention in Alexandria. Miss Clementson is the daughter of Leah Clementson and the late Paul Clementson of Route 3, Brainerd.

40 years ago (1966)

Steamboat Day, Logging Camp day and Railroad Day will be celebrated in Lumbertown U.S.A. during August. Lumbertown, a replica of a Minnesota Village as it was 95 years ago, is located just 12 miles from Brainerd.

60 years ago (1946)

Brainerd is in need of housing facilities. The absence of housing in Brainerd has reached a stage where, unless something is done, this city is going to face a crisis within a short period of time.

80 years ago (1926)

The traveling radio station 6XBR, sponsored by Warner Brothers, motion picture producers of Hollywood, now on tour around the world, will broadcast a local program at the Lyceum Theater Thursday night.

100 years ago (1906)

There will be a lawn social this evening at the residence of Mrs. Bertha Thievot for the benefit of the W.R.C. Ice cream and cake, 15¢. Frappe, 5¢. Everyone is invited.
