Jimmy Hummel, 16, appeared in Crow Wing County court today in connection with the stabbing death of his former girlfriend, Shana Pesheck, whose body was found at her rural Brainerd home Thursday.

30 years ago (1979)

City council president Mildred Michaelis concluded discussion on the list of grievances brought against Brainerd Police Department administrators. She directed the aldermen to be prepared to bring forth a recommendation this week.

40 years ago (1969)

Water is being pumped out of the old Brainerd mine at the rate of a half-million gallons per day. This will lower water levels near the end of South Eighth Street, allowing installation of storm sewer in the new Brainerd industrial park.

A straw hat and fingerprints were the clues that Brainerd police worked with today in the break-in at Arthur White's boat shop on South Broadway last night. Burglars were frightened off after carrying an outboard motor to the rear of the store.

100 years ago (1909)

The iron prospecting drill, which has been operating on Frank Anderson's place near White Sand Lake, has been removed to the Frank Andrus place and a second drill be started there in a short time.
