The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's youth baseball leagues recently concluded their playoffs with the Hammer Heads winning the Mustang League title, the Reds claiming the Bronco League crown and the Mets securing the Pony League championship.
In Mustang League action, the fifth-seeded M.J. Sports Shop Hammer Heads defeated the No. 3 Merrifield Marathons Snowmobile Club Aqua Sox 10-6 for the playoff championship. The Brainerd Jaycees Silver Hawks won the regular-season title. The Hammer Heads are coached by Jim Russell, the Aqua Sox by Kurt Wicklund and the Silver Hawks by Ron Houle.
The No. 2 Bremer Banks Reds downed the No. 3 Brainerd Lunkers Mets 9-8 to win the Bronco League playoff championship. The Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union Twins were the regular-season champions. The Reds are coached by Vince Kline, the Mets by Jim Russell and the Twins by Scott Crandall.
The top-seeded Mills Auto Group Mets edged the No. 6 Electrical Systems Red Sox 5-4 to win the playoff title. The Mets are coached by John Mogensen and the Red Sox by Jason LaDouceur.
