20 years ago (1988)

The Brainerd City Council, meeting as a Committee of the Whole, got an earful Monday night about proposed plans for expansion of the Brainerd Technical Institute and traffic patterns through town.

30 years ago (1978)

Mrs. Clarence Trueblood of 816 Second Street, Brainerd, will be displaying her flowers at the Crow Wing County Fair. Mrs. Trueblood, who will be 74 on Thursday, has been a member of the Brainerd Garden Club for over 30 years.

40 years ago (1968)

Fire, believed to have been set by burglars, destroyed Bar Harbor Night club early yesterday morning. By 5:45 a.m. the building was completely leveled.

60 years ago (1948)

July was the biggest month this year for builders, city engineer Robert Campbell reported. He said that during that month permits were issued for $92,340 worth of construction as compared to $66,900 for June.

80 years ago (1928)

According to several critics, Brainerd has one of the larger and best equipped boys' camps in the United States. Camp Lincoln for boys located on Hubert Lake is recognized as the oldest boys camp in Minnesota.

100 years ago (1908)
