Hosts chosen for exchange student
IRONTON - The Onton David Fournier family of Ironton will welcome a new "son," Karl Oskar Georg Arvidson, a Youth for Understanding student from Sweden, for the 2008 academic year at Crosby-Ironton High School.

Benefit still planned

JENKINS - A benefit for Terry Oddson, who died Aug. 3, will be hosted in his honor from 1-5 p.m. Aug. 24 at the VFW in Jenkins.

A sloppy Joe dinner will be served. Cost is $5 a plate.

The benefit is hosted by Oddson's daughter, Laurie Zaleski, and family. Funds raised will go toward medical bills.

Ward selected as delegate

Rep. John Ward, DFL-Brainerd, has been selected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25-28 in Denver.

The first-term lawmaker will join 88 state delegates. He is among the 47 District level delegates.
