PINE RIVER - The relocation of the Pine River Depot begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported.
The Paul Bunyan Trail in Pine River will be closed as the structure is moved to the other side of the trail.
Mill Street has been designated as the detour. DNR staff will be on site to assist trail users. The actual move could take two days, weather permitting. The trail will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so, MnDOT reported. For safety reasons, interested parties are asked to stay away from this operation.
This move is necessary to make way for the four-lane expansion of Highway 371, scheduled sometime in the future.
The relocation is funded by MnDOT and a $250,000 Federal Transportation History Grant. The contract is being administered by Cass County.
