LOCAL BRIEFS Crow Wing County residents still eligible for stimulus payments
The Internal Revenue Service has reported there are still 1,118 people in the Crow Wing County area who have not filed to obtain the 2008 Economic Stimulus Payment.
Some low-income workers and recipients of Social Security, certain veteran's benefits and certain Railroad Retirement benefits may qualify for economic stimulus payments this year from the federal government. The tax return needs to show at least $3,000 in qualifying income.
Qualifying income can include Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veteran's benefits. The benefits will need to be reported on a 2007 tax return (Line 20a of Form 1040 or Line 14a of the Form 1040A).
To ensure you receive your rebate in 2008 you must file by Oct. 15.
