Vivian G. Morgan
April 8, 1924 - Aug. 11, 2009

ROCHESTER - Vivian Gene (Hendren) Morgan, 85, of 1453 Sunny Ridge Road, Winona, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.

Vivian was born April 8, 1924, at Watertown, S.D., to James and Hazel (Gordon) Hendren. She met Leo Morgan at Portland, Ore., where Vivian and Leo built Liberty Ships for the World War ll war effort.

Vivian and Leo were married Sept. 11, 1944, at Pillager, Minn. They lived in Hopkins, Minn., prior to moving to Winona in 1968.

They also own a lake home at Nisswa, Minn., where they were anticipating their 65th upcoming wedding anniversary.

Vivian received her bachelor of business degree from WSU in 1972 and her master's of business from WSU in 1976.

Vivian was an instructor at Winona Technical College where she helped to develop the medical secretary program.

Her hobbies included traveling out West, going to casinos, scrapbooking, collecting and gardening.

A large part of Vivian's life was caring about her children and grandchildren. She remained very close to her siblings and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Vivian is survived by her husband, Leo Morgan Sr.; son, Leo Morgan Jr., of Bemidji, Minn.; daughter, Mitzi (Paul) Girtler, of Winona; five grandchildren, Marianne Morgan, Shane Morgan, Ryan (Bethany) Girtler, Shawnie Girtler and Michelle Morgan; four siblings, Nellie (Hank) Gartzke, of Brookings, Ore., June (Bob) Stemwedel, of Clear Lake, S.D., Sharyn Keyser, of Las Vegas, and Colin (Darlene) Hendren, of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Richard) Armstrong, of Soldotna, Alaska, and Lois (Myron) Sandberg, of Cushing, Minn.; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends, Helen and Dick Keiper.

Funeral services were held at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Franko of Central Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Michelle Morgan, Shane Morgan, Ryan Girtler and Shawnie Girtler.
