The Minnesota State Fair gets under way this week at the fairgrounds in St. Paul with the following bands at the Grandstand:

¥ Brad Paisley (above) with Jewel and Chuck Wicks, 7:30 p.m. Friday, $45.
¥ Backstreet Boys with Girlicious, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, $29.
¥ Jonny Lang (right) and Buddy Guy with Big Head Todd & the Monsters, 7 p.m. Sunday, $35.
¥ Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, 7:30 p.m. Monday, $30.

Mark your place
Book lovers, mark your place for two big events. The Friends of the Library Used Book Sale will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday-Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Brainerd Public Library, and the 13th annual Art Festival & Book Fair will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday outside the Community Building in Hackensack. Admission is free to both.

Last blast
The last Music in the Park concert of the summer will feature folk tunes by Faith Boblett and variety by Dirty Bomb at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park in Crosby. Admission is free; bring your own blanket or lawn chairs.

Rockensack
The Kentucky Sound Arsenal (from Fargo, N.D., naturally) and four other bands will perform a metal and punk concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hackensack Community Building. Admission is $5.
