EAST GULL LAKE - Sensacion Latina will perform music at the Hot Salsa Labor Day Weekend dinner show at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Madden's on Gull Lake. The Dancers Studio of the Twin Cities will also perform.
Tickets are $50 per person, plus tax and a service charge.
The dinner menu will include a starter of scallop skewer sauteed with garlic and basil, served with mixed greens; an entree of filet mignon, roasted butternut squash mashed potatoes, caramelized onion chimichurri, grilled shrimp and carmenere wine sauce; and dessert.

Stengel to perform Crossing benefit
Comedian and Brainerd High School graduate Shawn Stengel will present "Try(ing) to Remember: An Afternoon of Hazy Memories, Music and More" at 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Franklin Arts Center Theatre in Brainerd.
Tickets are $30 for the public and $25 for students, seniors and Crossing Arts Alliance members. Proceeds benefit the Crossing.
A reception for the Brainerd High School Alumni Art Exhibit will follow the concert in Gallery 119.
Stengel will perform music from "Cats," "Crazy for You," "Pump Boys & Dinettes," "Wicked" and "The Music Man."

Auditions set for 'Laramie Project'
Central Lakes College Theatre will hold auditions for its October production of "The Laramie Project" at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3 and 4 in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus.
The play was written in the aftermath of the murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard in 1998 in Wyoming.
Director Erik Steen plans to use 12 teenagers, about 20 young adults and as many as 30 middle-agers and seniors. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script.
