Construction to begin on scenic waterscape in Crosslake
CROSSLAKE - Volunteers and professionals will begin working Monday on a water pond and scenic area on the east side of the Crosslake Community Center.
Jon Henke, director of parks and recreation for the city of Crosslake, said a waterscape with a waterfall that's about 6-8 feet in height and a stream that's about 25 feet in length will be a part of the improvement. The pool, which will include rocks, water plants and vegetation, will be about 16 by 22 feet.
Woodspirit Garden of Backus will coordinate the volunteers in the project, which is expected to be completed by Wednesday. Construction is not expected to disrupt any scheduled activities at the community center.
Earlier the center built a patio with access to the wireless Internet and a pergola, a garden feature forming a shaded walk or passageway of pillars that support cross beams and an open lattice.
Henke said many volunteers have donated rocks and the Crosslake Garden Club has been instrumental in the project.
In addition, he said Crosslake is putting the finishing touches on a 9-hole disc course which should be open by the spring.
