Cass Lake man missing; son in custody
City Editor A 50-year-old Cass Lake man is in custody while Cass County sheriff's deputies continue to search for the man's father.
On Wednesday, Cass County sheriff's officials received a report from family members and friends about the missing father. Ivan Mann, 74, has been missing for more than 10 days, the sheriff's department said.
At 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning, sheriff's officials issued a news release stating they were searching for Ronald Mann, who lived on Ivan Mann's property and was being sought for questioning.
Late Thursday morning, Ronald Mann approached law enforcement on foot near the father's residence, Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said. A vehicle officers were searching for also was located nearby. Ronald Mann now is being held in the Cass County jail pending formal charges.
"The investigation is certainly continuing," Fisher said.
He said officials have had contact with Ronald Mann, who has at least one conviction in the past. "We're hopeful something will result from the evidence."
Fisher said a crime lab is processing the scene.
"From a law enforcement and public safety perspective, we feel it's something very positive that Ronald Mann and the vehicle have been located," Fisher said, noting the disappearance of Ivan Mann remains under investigation.
