John W. Fisker
BACKUS - John W. Fisker, of Backus, Minn., Feb. 27, 1936-Aug. 24, 2009, was taken much too early by brain cancer. John graduated from Patrick Henry High School and served four years in the Navy Band. He graduated with a music degree from University of Minnesota. Had a long successful music career, including big bands out of N.Y., Golden Strings, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. Retired in '98 to beautiful Ponto Lake, spending the next 11 years enjoying the Brainerd lakes area with friends and family, fishing, golfing and playing gigs.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 54 years; children, Jeff (Sue), Leora (Doug), Gus (Glenda), Blake (Carol); mother; Anne Fisker; five grandkids, Nathanael, Jesse, Zach, Wes and Erin; three nephews; one niece; and by the most incredible friends all over the United States. Memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 29, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1340 Cass County Road 5, Longville, Minn.
