CLC Gallery features work of Duluth artist
The Central Lakes College Gallery is hosting an exhibit by Duluth artist Ann Klefstad that opens Monday and ends Sept. 24.
Klefstad, 52, who is a sculptor and writer, has worked for the Walker Art Center, the Duluth News-Tribune as a staff arts writer, mnartists.org and she has written for various print and online publications.
Aside from sculpting and writing, Klefstad enjoys drawing and critiquing artwork. She writes features and news stories, mainly about artists, the outdoors, boats and travel.
As a sculptor, Klefstad has pursued a couple of different kinds of practices: Fluxus-oriented work on the street in the form of multiples; installation; and public art commissions.
The St. Olaf College graduate has always used photography in her journalism. One of her favorite open-ended photo essays, "Exiles" shows trees living in exile in human environments.
Her new series, "Walk on Water," documents water surfaces and includes numerous images of Lake Superior from her perspective.
