Aitkin runs record to 5-0
Area girls' tennis
DULUTH - The Aitkin Gobblers raised their record to 5-0 as they defeated Duluth Marshall 5-2 Thursday.

Kaija Fossum remained unbeaten at No. 4 singles and all three Gobbler doubles teams are still undefeated.

Pequot wins three meets

PIERZ - Pequot Lakes scored three dual-meet victories and Angela Villella improved to 7-0 at No. 2 singles in the Pierz quadrangular Thursday.

Pequot's Megan Lenz tied for the No. 1 singles title, Villella was champion at No. 2 and Kirstie Harmdierks won at No. 4. The Patriots' Katelyn Schmidt-Tricia Villella won the No. 1 doubles title and Nicci Hedtke-Claire Erholtz went 2-0 and Johanna Heidmann-Maggie Clement were 1-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Pierz's Cassie Banick also tied for the No. 1 singles title and the Pioneers' Erin Gritzmacher was champion at No. 3.
