Steve Stoxen defended his Men's Club championship by shooting a 73 to win his third title. Alice Benson won her first women's club championship, shooting a 92 in match play competition.

Fifty-four of the original 119 graduates of the Washington High School Class of 1927 met at Madden's Inn, Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, for their 50th class reunion.
40 years ago (1967)
The Brainerd city government will receive slightly more than $67,000 and the Brainerd School District about $98,000 next year under the new state aid plan of the sales tax law.
60 years ago (1947)
Approximately $2,800 in new equipment, including Dictaphones for the commercial department, have been added at Brainerd Junior College. Approximately 150 students had enrolled at the college as of today.

Final scores have been recorded at the new Elks Home bowling alley. C.C. Van Essen came through with a 219 count on Saturday.
