Charter Communications subscribers in Brainerd-Baxter can camp out on their couches Saturday night.
The Big Ten Network, which wasn't in Charter's lineup in Brainerd-Baxter last fall, will have its area blackout lifted at 6 p.m. Saturday when the Minnesota Gophers open their football season against Northern Illinois.
Tucker Carlson, director of government affairs and franchise relations for Minnesota and Nebraska, said Gophers games carried by BTN will be on Channel 19 through September.
Charter Communications in Brainerd-Baxter won't carry BTN full-time until Sept. 30 when its permanent home will become Channel 26 on the expanded tier of channels.
"Channel 19 is part of the basic tier of channels, every Charter customer gets basic," Carlson said. "After Sept. 30 we will put it on Channel 26. We're waiting on final confirmation of those details and we'll send notice to customers that a channel move will be taking place."
Until Sept. 30, Charter Mainstreet will make room on Channel 19 for any Gophers games that are carried by BTN.
Carlson said when BTN moves to the expanded basic tier there will not be an additional charge to Charter customers.
Charter customers in Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point will see BTN on Channel 3 until Sept. 30, at which time it will move to Channel 26.
